Daphnis et Chloe is a ballet with music by Ravel, who described it as a "symphonie choreographique". The scenario was adopted by Mikhail Fokine from an eponymous romance by the Greek writer Longus throught to date from around the 3rd century AD. It concerns the love between a goatherder (Daphnis) and a shepherdess (Chloe), who is kidnapped by an evil captain (Bryaxis) and his fierce band of pirates. ............ Contact Web Site |
